I had a pleasant stay with welcoming staff and an excellent breakfast featuring local ingredients. The room was cozy but had some room for improvement. specifically, the shower over the bath was less practical. noise from the nearby road might be an issue for light sleepers, though it didn't bother me much.

I stayed in a Deluxe Double Room at The Down and had an enjoyable experience. Maxine, the owner, created a warm and welcoming atmosphere from the start. The room was spacious, decorated with a charming wildlife theme, and had a cozy vibe that made me feel right at home. The breakfast was outstanding. Plenty of choices, and the freshly baked pastries were a highlight. I appreciated the local quality ingredients on the breakfast menu. The only downside was the weak wifi signal in the room, which made it difficult to stay connected. The inn's location offered convenient access to the surrounding countryside, perfect for exploring the area.

Attention to detail is evident throughout, especially in the beautifully decorated bar and restaurant areas. The home-cooked food is superb, featuring seasonal dishes that are both fresh and delicious. The staff stands out for their remarkable hospitality. I found the overall pace during breakfast a bit rushed, and the limited menu options at lunch did not cater broadly to diverse tastes.

Dog-friendly atmosphere makes it easier for pet lovers. The building has a charming, rustic vibe, complementing its pub-style roots nicely.
The room felt cramped and dated, lacking a decent view, mainly facing a grey roof. Noise from the kitchen was a constant distraction, and parking might be tricky at peak times with limited spots. While the location is central, car traffic can disrupt evening peace, requiring a white noise app to drown out the sounds. Check-in hours create potential hassle. arriving late may leave you stranded as access outside of stated hours isn’t available, lacking alternative contact options leaves you high and dry.
